Roasted and Raw on 14th Street in Oakland is a casual, plant-forward spot that feels well-suited for a quick lunch or an easy takeout option, especially for those leaning into vegan and raw food lifestyles. The restaurant has an airy layout with plenty of seating, allowing for a relaxed dining experience without the bustle you'd expect in a busy downtown eatery. Its location near Lake Merritt means it often attracts local office workers, health-conscious diners, and anyone looking for fresh, wholesome meals that come with a creative twist.

The menu is focused around customizable bowls where you pick your base, protein, and flavor profile. Standouts reflected in local opinion include the curry chickpea ragout bowl, thick with yellow curry braised chickpeas and hearty roasted veggies, as well as falafel-centric options that appeal to those after bold Mediterranean flavors. Fans of raw dishes have praised options like the kelp noodle pad thai and raw cashew alfredo, which come with a thoughtful layering of fresh produce and inventive sauces. Sides such as yucca fries and mac n cheez provide pleasantly indulgent complements without feeling heavy.

Service is typically brisk and friendly, with order turnaround times around 10 minutes even during early lunch hours, making this a reliable stop for a midday meal break. The environment is clean, and while it’s not packed with decorative flair, the vibe leans into a straightforward, health-conscious ethos that feels authentic rather than trendy.

This spot works well for solo diners fueled by a quick but nourishing meal, groups of friends keen on sharing small plates, or anyone who wants to try vegan and raw dishes executed with care. Given its accessible pricing and generous portions, it’s also a practical choice for those new to plant-based eating trying to discover what they like. Early afternoons on weekdays tend to be quieter, offering a calm pause in the day, while evenings might attract a steady stream of locals grabbing dinner on the go.

I was near the Lake Merritt area when I found this place on happycow. Then rode up here on bay ride bikes, parked it and walked to this place. My first impression was that this place was pretty empty with plenty of seating. Then I ordered a curry chickpea bowl (which apparently is their best selling item) along with Fries. The order took around 10 minutes to complete and I can say that both the bowl and fries were awesome and delicious. I would definitely recommend especially for vegans in the east bay. This place is also only 7 min walk from the 12th St Bart station. Update: Would have been nice if they made some drinks like shakes but sadly they didn't have.

I absolutely love this place! I’m still working my way through trying the entire menu lol, but everything I’ve had thus far has been delicious. The food is packed with flavor, the portions are generous and the service is excellent. I’m obsessed with the falafel bowl and chocolate chip cookies. I recently tried the empanada and loved it also. I’ve also ordered the falafel by itself and it’s delicious. I hate that I I’ve hardly taken many photos of my food on countless visits lol, but trust me on this one…THE FOOD IS GOOD!! Falafel bowl w/chik’n (minus the sauce that comes with it) and Yuca Hash plate pictured for reference.

The food here is fresh, healthy and tasty, although the choices are limited. The Black bean burger is good. The atmosphere is airy, with a panoramic view of the street. Service is fast and staff are courteous. Pricing is reasonable. Very clean. A great place to grab lunch.

Roasted and Raw is a new favorite vegan restaurant for me. I tried their black bean burger and yucca fries and it was so amazingly delicious . I can't wait to go back and try some of their raw cuisine. What a special place. Love their vibe and menu. Will be back soon!

Delicious generous portions! Amazing options to choose from. My favorite was the massive bean burger and empanada. Their bowls are also huge and scrumptious.

So many options to choose from, but I went with a bunch of sides and they were all extremely delicious! I haven't had garlic bread in soo long being vegan, and this totally hit the spot with the Mac n cheese Hellz ya

We tried the chicken & waffles, mac & cheese, sweet potato, kale salad, and chocolate chip cookies. Everything was seasoned so well. The mac & cheese /sweet potato / cookie were my favorite. Waffle was perfect but i'd skip the chicken and try a different protein. I would love to try more of their tofu entrees. Staff was so nice, clean tables and bathroom, nice bottle sauce selection.

My new favorite vegan spot in Oakland, and I've tried them all! I want to come back again ASAP. I got a quinoa bowl with sweet orange sauce and BBQ carnitas, it came with the most delicious fresh veggies and felt so light & healthy. You'd think that one flavor would overpower the other since sweet orange and BBQ are both fairly intense flavors, but here it was perfect and went together nicely. Portion was large, I saved some for later. Another great menu item is their burger, it's fantastic and even comes with yuca fries which were a nice surprise. Empanadas are great too, and there are cookies and muffins for dessert. Another big benefit to eating here is that they have a smoothie place connected to them called "Powered by Pure" (you need to be rang up separately, but literally just two registers next to one another). I'm not a drink/smoothie person but gave the Peach Cobbler shake a shot and was blown away. I was expecting it to be too heavy or too sweet, but again it was very light and fresh. Everything far exceeded my expectations. Staff is very friendly too!
